From the Director

The Covid-19 crisis has made our lives immensely difficult necessitating a re-evaluation of old ways and an exploration of new possibilities. In the face of our smaller and fragile Columban Missionary Society, we are invited to embrace openness and courage towards renewal and transformation in moving forward. The Columban International Meeting in Korea enabled, encouraged and challenged all Columbans to reflect on the current realities of our Society and its mission. Together, we acknowledge and discern the opportunities that lie ahead.

The harmonious and strengthening sense of partnership and teamwork of Columban lay missionaries, ordained, students, co-workers and all partners and companions, form the heart upon which our mission moves forward. Recently, the Columban Mission Parish of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Barra, in the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, celebrated its first year anniversary as a parish. It is indeed something we should rejoice about, as it stands as a testament of our partnership, collaboration and commitment to various endeavors such as Basic Ecclessial Community (BEC), Interreligious Dialogue (IRD), Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) โ€“ Laudato Si and Rights of Nature Movement, initiatives benefiting Indigenous People and livelihood projects for those most in need.

Moreover, the historic Malate Church, in the Archdiocese of Manila under the care of the Columban Missionaries for 94 years now, was recently declared by The National Museum as an important cultural property for its contributions to the historical, artistic, and cultural traditions of the Philippines. Over the years, Malate Church has served as a symbol of our commitment and creativity in serving the community and propagating the faith in Christ and reverence to Our Lady of Remedies in the City of Manila.

We, the Columban Missionaries are truly grateful to God and to you, our generous and committed benefactors, companions and friends for all your support to our missionary work and journey. Together we celebrate in praising and thanking God who has done great thing to us and through us and to the rest of creation.

TAOS-PUSONG PASASALAMAT SA INYONG LAHAT!
