As we step into new year 2025, we look back with gratitude on the journey that has brought us to where we are and look forward with hope. As we navigate this time of transition in our Columban missionary journey, we are reminded that transitions are not just challenges or  merely responses to changing circumstances but sacred opportunities to deepen our faith, strengthen our commitment and renew our sense of purpose as a Columban Missionary Society.

Needless to say, we cannot remain as we are. The need for transformation, addressed by the 2024 Columban General assembly held in Peru in May and June, is inviting us to courageously and truly embrace the pathway of synodality –  that is, to forge partnerships and networks of goodwill, particularly with people of faith and with all who are committed to the realization of God’s dream for all creation. This vision continues to inspire and shape our Columban mission.

In this Jubilee Year, as “Pilgrims of Hope”, our path forward is rooted in our shared faith, mission and commitment to journey together as a church on mission, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and  recognizing that every person’s voice and gifts matter. As pilgrims, we are called to embody hope and courage in prophetic witnessing amid the global challenges we face – the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor – which compel us to deepen our solidarity and expand our network of compassion and justice.

Thanks to all the Columban Mission Partners for their unwavering support, dedication and willingness to work together on the synodal transformation for doing our Columban Mission. The appreciation and gratitude for their support, along with the recognition of their passion for God’s mission, embolden our dedication and commitment to partnership, collaboration, inclusivity, and collective accountability to God’s mission. Let us make this journey together with faith and courage, trusting that the Holy SPirit will guide us to be witnesses of hope in an ever-changing world.
